Welcome to KAUST. This guide will help you get started with the digital tools and services you will use as a staff member. From accessing email and collaboration tools to connecting remotely and getting support, everything you need is outlined below.
Staff email is hosted on Microsoft Outlook as part of Microsoft 365. Your email account is used for official communication and to sign in to many KAUST services.
If you encounter technical issues or need guidance, the IT Service Desk is available to assist you.
For remote support, use TeamViewer Quick Support. No installation or admin rights are required:
DUO 2FA adds a second layer of security to your KAUST login. It is required for accessing many KAUST applications and systems.
Use VPN when working off campus, or from a 4G network, to access internal KAUST systems.
Important Update: Effective Monday, 29 September 2025, the Cisco AnyConnect client has been replaced with Cisco Secure Client.
If you have not updated yet, visit vpn.kaust.edu.sa. On first connection, the new client will automatically install, remove AnyConnect, and configure your device. Use Cisco Secure Client for all future KAUST VPN connections.
Newly issued KAUST laptops and desktops come with Cisco Secure Client pre-installed. The client is also available in Windows Software Center and macOS Self Service.
On personal devices, log in to vpn.kaust.edu.sa and follow the on-screen instructions. The new client installs automatically on first connection.
Microsoft 365 is the primary platform for email, communication, document creation, and collaboration. It includes Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
Each staff member receives 1 TB of cloud storage in OneDrive for secure document storage and sharing.
Use SharePoint to collaborate with teams, manage projects, and access department files.
Use Teams for chat, meetings, file sharing, and team collaboration. For additional app guides and training materials, visit KAUST IT Training.
