Connect to WiFi

Connect to KAUST WiFi Networks

KAUST offers several WiFi networks to support academic, research, operational, and guest connectivity. Whether connecting a laptop, phone, IoT device, or hosting a visitor, there is a dedicated network for each use case. Below is an overview of the available networks, who can connect, and how to get started.

Uni-Fi: The New Standard for Secure Connectivity

Uni-Fi is the new default WiFi network across campus. It is based on enterprise-grade 802.1X authentication and is gradually replacing iCampus as the primary network.

To connect to Uni-Fi:

  • Select Uni-Fi from the available WiFi networks
  • Log in using your KAUST Connect username and password
  • Accept the security certificate when prompted

Uni-Fi is being rolled out in phases. If you don’t see it available in your location yet, continue using iCampus until deployment reaches your building.

There are two additional Uni-Fi options:

  • Uni-Fi Guest: for sponsored visitors who are not part of the KAUST network
  • Uni-Fi IoT: for approved smart devices and embedded systems

iCampus: Legacy Network (Still Active in Some Locations)

iCampus is the legacy WiFi network at KAUST, also based on 802.1X enterprise authentication. It remains active in areas where Uni-Fi has not yet been deployed.

To connect to iCampus:

  • Select iCampus from your network list
  • Enter your KAUST Connect credentials
  • Accept the certificate and connect

iCampus is available to:

  • Faculty, Staff, Students, Researchers, Postdocs, Consultants, PTSAs, and Service Providers
  • Research Park tenants with an approved partner account

Research Park tenants should contact the IT Service Desk to request access.

eduroam: Global Access for the Academic Community

eduroam is an international WiFi network used by thousands of academic and research institutions worldwide. It allows individuals from participating institutions to securely access WiFi at KAUST and at other eduroam-enabled locations using their institutional credentials.

At KAUST, eduroam is available to:

  • Faculty
  • Students
  • Staff
  • Researchers
  • Postdocs

No enrollment is required. Access is automatically granted with a valid KAUST Connect account.

To connect at KAUST:

  • Select eduroam from your network list
  • Use your KAUST username followed by @kaust.edu.sa (e.g., username@kaust.edu.sa) and password

If visiting another eduroam institution, make sure your KAUST eduroam configuration is working before you travel.

Note: The KAUST IT Service Desk does not provide support to non-KAUST visitors using eduroam while on campus.

KAUST-IoT: For Smart and Connected Devices

KAUST-IoT is a specialized network for devices that do not support enterprise authentication. This includes screens, sensors, printers, robots, and smart home equipment.

To request access:

  • Contact the IT Service Desk
  • Provide the MAC address of the device you want to connect

Eligibility includes faculty, staff, students, researchers, and postdocs.

KAUST-Guest: Basic Access for Visitors

KAUST-Guest is an open WiFi network available to all guests and campus visitors. It provides basic internet access secured through firewall protections.

To connect:

  • Select KAUST-Guest from the WiFi list
  • Wait for the browser pop-up and accept the KAUST Acceptable Use Policy
  • Once accepted, internet access will be enabled

No request or sponsor is required to use KAUST-Guest.
