Uni-Fi at KAUST
Improved, reliable Wi-Fi
Now in Buildings 2 & 3
At KAUST IT, we are pleased to introduce Uni-Fi, the University’s new wireless network built to deliver faster, smarter, and more reliable connectivity across campus. Uni-Fi is more than a technical upgrade. It reflects our commitment to providing the KAUST community with seamless, secure, and high-performance access to the digital tools and services that support work, research, and collaboration.
Our previous wireless infrastructure has served the community well for nearly a decade, supporting tens of thousands of connections each day. As digital needs continue to grow, Uni-Fi brings the next level of speed, coverage, and stability through the latest Wi-Fi 6E technology.
The rollout of Uni-Fi is happening in phases, with each building coming online over time. Once the new network becomes available in your area, you will need to disconnect from the legacy iCampus network and connect to Uni-Fi instead. This will ensure you benefit from improved performance and enhanced reliability.
Uni-Fi also features integrated environmental sensors and connects with building systems to support smarter infrastructure management and advance KAUST’s sustainability efforts.
Please refer to the FAQs below to learn more about Uni-Fi, how to connect, and when it will be available in your building.
Uni-Fi is our response to the changing times and evolving digital needs of our university community. Our current infrastructure, in operation for 8 years, has admirably supported the connectivity of 60,000 devices daily, serving as a central pillar of our digital ecosystem. However, as technology progresses and our digital lives shift, the end of life and support milestones of our current hardware are pressing concerns.
Driven by our commitment to providing reliable connectivity for our university community, Uni-Fi emerges as the solution. It's not just an upgrade; it's a reflection of our dedication to meeting your connectivity needs today and in the future. Uni-Fi promises a seamless digital experience, ensuring you can navigate the digital landscape with confidence. It's our assurance of continued support and empowerment in an ever-changing digital world.
Uni-Fi is not just a simple upgrade; it's a leap forward in connectivity driven by cutting-edge technology. At its core, Uni-Fi harnesses the power of new wireless access points that utilize Wi-Fi 6E. But what exactly is Wi-Fi 6E? Imagine moving from a congested highway to a spacious express lane, where data flows freely and efficiently, providing an improved digital experience for everyone. Unlike Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 6E offers faster speeds, reduced interference, and enhanced capacity, ensuring smoother and more reliable connections for users across our university campus.
But Uni-Fi doesn't stop there. It's equipped with an array of environmental sensors and integrates seamlessly with existing telecom and building infrastructure. This integration allows Uni-Fi to gain valuable insights into the operating parameters of buildings or areas, empowering users with valuable data for informed decision-making and optimizing resource utilization.
In essence, Uni-Fi isn't just about faster speeds and better connectivity; it's about leveraging advanced technology to create smarter, more efficient, and more connected environments for our university community. With Uni-Fi, we're not just upgrading our infrastructure; we're revolutionizing the way we connect and interact with our digital world.
