Copilot Chat Now Available to the KAUST Community

Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat is now generally available to the KAUST Community through the Microsoft 365 portal, helping you work smarter and faster while your data remains protected within KAUST’s Microsoft 365 environment.

What is Copilot Chat?

Copilot Chat is an AI assistant available through the Microsoft 365 portal. It can:

  • Answer questions and summarize content.
  • Help draft, refine, and format text.
  • Provide insights and guidance for academic, business, and research tasks.
Important to know:
Copilot Chat is not the same as Copilot for Microsoft 365. Copilot for Microsoft 365 is a separate premium, paid license that integrates AI directly in Microsoft apps like Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. This license is not yet available for purchase at KAUST. IT will announce availability in a future communication.

Security and privacy

Copilot Chat is backed by enterprise-grade security, compliance, and privacy protections in Microsoft 365:

  • Your data stays within KAUST’s Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Prompts and responses are not used to train Microsoft’s foundation models.
  • Enterprise Data Protection applies across prompts and outputs.
