Planned Maintenance - Network Maintenance Activities

KAUST Community,

The following maintenance activities are planned, please review the schedule and expected impacts below.

ActivityDetails
Wi-Fi Maintenance (Campus-wide & Residential Areas)

When: Thursday, October 16, 10:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Where: Campus-wide, including shared areas such as Discovery Square, KAUST Monument, and all residential neighborhoods.

Impact:

  • New devices will not be able to connect to iCampus, Uni-Fi, Guest, or IoT networks during this time.
  • Devices already connected will remain online.

Action required:

  • If you need internet access during this hour, use 4G/5G, personal home Wi-Fi, or a wired connection.
Network Switch Software Upgrade in Residential Areas

When:

  • Starts Thursday, October 16, for 10–15 minutes between 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Paused during the weekend (Friday and Saturday)
  • Resumes Sunday, October 19 – Tuesday, October 21, for 10–15 minutes between 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Impact:

  • A brief (10–15 minute) interruption to internet, Wi-Fi, IP phones, and connected systems may occur in residential units.

Action required:

  • Save your work and plan ahead for possible short interruptions.
  • During the upgrade, internet, Wi-Fi, IP phones, and fire alarm systems in affected homes will be temporarily unavailable.
Wired Network Connectivity Optimization

Where: Buildings 1, 2, 3, 9, and 12

When: Thursday, October 16, 10:00 PM – Friday, October 17, 2:00 AM

Impact:

  • People working in these buildings may experience brief disconnections from the wired network during the activity window.
Network Maintenance – Building 3

When: Friday, October 17, 9:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Where: Building 3

Impact:

  • Short interruptions (up to 20 minutes) may affect:
    • Internet and Wi-Fi connectivity
    • IP phones
    • Fire alarm systems
    • Other connected IT services and systems

Action required:

  • Save your work and plan ahead for possible interruptions.
