Linux installation instructions

LINUX UPDATE INSTALLER

Use modules to load the applications available in the scientific application stack.
Please contact IT Linux Support or open a ticket with the IT Help Desk to install a new version of this application.

Loading ENVI from the scientific application stack

To run ENVI or IDL, you may first load the associated module. For example, to run the latest version, execute:

$ module load envi/5.1

This adds all ENVI and IDL scripts and executables to your path, and sets appropriate environment variables. After the module is loaded, execute any ENVI command as desired, (e.g. envi, envi_rt):

$ envi

And you can also run any of IDL commands as follows:

$ idlde
 

Windows installation instructions

The license server is running at 27030@WTHFXNSR03.

The below are the steps we use to configure the software on Windows OS based computers.

User should have Administrator privileges (If not provide temporarily)to install the software. install the software and set Environment valuables as below.

Variable name : idl_lmgrd_license_file

Variable value : 27030@WTHFXNSR03

ENVI-IDL software at KAUST is restricted for Biological, Environmental Sciences & Engineering department at KAUST as on their order. To use ENVI-IDL, Kindly get approval from Prof. Matthew F. McCabe. User’s name should be added to the license server accessible list. Forward the approval E-mail to me to add user in server list. The other option is to purchase new license which his/her department should send an E-Mail or raise shopping cart for the product.
