Keep Your Mac and Windows Devices Up to Date

KAUST IT regularly provides operating system updates for KAUST-managed macOS and Windows devices to keep them secure, reliable, and ready to work wherever you are.

Why this matters: Devices that are not up to date may experience login or access issues when working off the KAUST network, including while traveling.

  • You benefit from new features and system improvements
  • You can log in and work smoothly when you are away from the KAUST network

KAUST supports specific versions of macOS and Windows to ensure compatibility with university systems. Keeping your device updated is an ongoing requirement. View supported operating systems .

Who needs to take action

This applies to KAUST-managed Mac and Windows devices.

If your device requires an update, you may receive a targeted notification or email listing the affected device by KAUST asset tag number. If your device is already up to date, no action is required.

What you need to do

  1. Install any pending macOS or Windows updates
  2. Restart your computer after the update completes
  3. Confirm you can log in successfully while off the KAUST network
Tip: Completing updates ahead of time helps avoid issues when traveling or working remotely.
