Request a Microsoft Teams Group

Microsoft Teams is the hub for team collaboration in Microsoft 365, combining chat, meetings, file sharing, and app integration into a single workspace. Requesting a dedicated Teams group allows your team to collaborate efficiently with shared resources and structure.

Who can request?

Any member of the KAUST community with a KAUST email address (@kaust.edu.sa) — including students, faculty, staff, and researchers — is eligible to request a Microsoft Teams group.

How to request

You can request a new Microsoft Teams group using one of the following methods:

  • Open a ticket via VITA
  • Call the IT Service Desk at 012-808-0910 (or internally dial 910)
  • Visit the IT Walk-In Support Desk (Building 14, Level 2, Sunday–Thursday, 8 AM–12 PM or 1 PM–5 PM)

Information to include in your request

To ensure smooth setup and management, please provide the following information when requesting your Teams group:

  • Team Name: A clear and descriptive name for the team
  • Purpose: A brief explanation of the team’s objective or use case
  • Primary Owner(s): Name and KAUST email of the team owner(s)
  • Team Members: List of initial members and their KAUST emails
  • Channel Preferences: Indicate if you would like pre-created channels or file structures

What happens next?

Your request will be reviewed and approved by the IT team. Once created, you’ll receive confirmation and instructions for accessing your new Microsoft Teams group. Owners can begin managing members, files, and communication channels immediately.
