October is the KAUST Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and we all need to do our part in making sure that the KAUST network and our online lives are kept safe and secure.
Our objective: To take advantage of Cybersecurity Awareness Month and place emphasis on protecting the information of the most important factor in Cybersecurity food chain—“YOU”. This month, awareness is all about protecting your Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and focuses on proper ways to securely handle this sensitive information.
Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is information that is used to identify a specific person. Examples of PII are IDs, medical records, credit cards, passports, bank records, etc. PII requires only one or a few pieces of information combined to create PII. Cyber attackers use this personal data to commit fraud or identity theft or to get sensitive information.
Any combination of information that identifies YOU is PII.
