KAUST Community Members,
MacOS Catalina (10.15) will no longer be supported by Apple with any future updates and security patches after the release of macOS Ventura which is expected to happen in October 2022. To prepare for this change, the KAUST IT Department is requesting you to proceed with upgrading your Apple computers to the current latest macOS (Monterey).
Apple and software vendors provide support for only the three most recent versions of macOS. When your computer is running a macOS version not supported by Apple, it becomes vulnerable to security threats and software may no longer function on your machine.
If you are using a KAUST provided computer, MacOS Monterey is able to be upgraded from Self Service app. Launch Self Service from your Applications folder and search for ‘Upgrade to macOS Monterey’.
If you are using macOS Mojave or later, you may download macOS Monterey via Software Update: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Software Update. Download the upgrade and the below installer window will open automatically to continue.
Please note that not all hardware running Catalina is able to be upgraded (learn more); if this is the case, you will not see Montery, if your machine is not supported. Most older macs will only see Big Sur as an option (learn more).
If you do not see any upgrade option and are unable upgrade the MacOS; you will need to replace your device.
