Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will no longer be supported with any security updates or technical support after October 14, 2025. KAUST IT recommends that all supported systems should be upgraded before the end-of-life date to Microsoft Windows 11.

To know if your computer is eligible for a Windows 11 upgrade, click here to learn more through Microsoft’s Website about the hardware specifications required to run Windows 11 or open a ticket with the IT Service Desk. Please note, that all Apple Intel-based hardware will not be able to install Windows 11.

All computers that are unable to be upgraded to Windows 11 must be replaced prior to the End-of-Life cycle date of October 14, 2025. Devices still running an older operating system will not be able to access the KAUST Network; this is to protect KAUST from any security vulnerabilities and or software bugs.

To check what version of Windows you currently have installed:

1- On your desktop, press the windows key (⊞) or (⌘ on MAC Keyboard) + (R) Key

2- The (Run) Window will appear, type (winver) and clicking the Enter Key

3- Your Windows version will be displayed in a separate tab
