Upgrade to macOS Sequoia!

10 November, 2025

KAUST IT would like to remind all KAUST faculty, staff, and students with Apple devices to upgrade their devices to macOS Sequoia 15, the latest version released by Apple and supported by KAUST IT. This will ensure continued access to critical security updates, improved performance, and compatibility with the latest applications and services.

What You Need to Do

1) Check your current macOS version

  1. Click the Apple logo at the top left corner of your screen.
  2. Select About This Mac.
  3. A window will appear showing your current macOS version.

If the version displayed is below macOS Sequoia 15, then your device is considered out of date.

2) If your device supports macOS Sequoia

  • Back up your data to ensure no information is lost during the upgrade.
  • Upgrade to macOS Sequoia 15 by following the Self-Service Guide.

3) If your device does not support an upgrade

  • The KAUST IT Department will be sending notifications to Apple device owners regarding their replacement.
  • Please arrange to replace your device by contacting your Business Manager to avoid any disruption to your workflow.

Important Notes

  • Any KAUST devices running macOS 13 (Ventura) or earlier are considered out of support.
  • Microsoft 365 and many other applications may not function reliably on older macOS versions.
  • Devices that remain on unsupported macOS versions will be disconnected from the KAUST Network in compliance with the KAUST Minimum Security Standard.
