macOS Monterey End of Support

On December 1, 2024, Apple will be discontinuing its support for the operating system MacOS Monterey. This will include all regular software updates and security patches for this operating system. KAUST IT recommends that, if your device supports an upgrade to the latest version of MacOS (Sonoma), to back up your data and upgrade your devices to the latest versions.  

To check which operating system your Apple device is running: 
 

  1.    Click on the Apple Logo (Found at the top left-hand side of the screen) 
  2.    Select ‘About this Mac’ 
  3.    A new window will appear and state which macOS version is installed

Please note that some devices may not support an upgrade to the latest macOS due to hardware limitations. As a result, the device will have to be replaced prior to the End of Support date December 1, 2024.  

Devices running an older operating system will be blocked from accessing the KAUST Network beyond that date as per KAUST Minimum Security Standard; this is to protect KAUST from any security vulnerabilities or software bugs.
