At KAUST, we are always working to keep our digital tools secure, reliable, and easy to use. As part of these ongoing improvements, we are introducing an upgrade to the VPN client that many of you use to connect to KAUST systems while on campus, at home, or traveling.
Starting 29 September 2025, the current Cisco AnyConnect client will be upgraded to the new Cisco Secure Client. This upgrade will happen automatically the next time you connect, so there is no need to download or install anything manually.
The familiar Cisco AnyConnect app is being replaced with the modern Cisco Secure Client. Once the update is complete, you will notice a new name and icon on your KAUST laptop or desktop.
The upgrade will take place automatically when you connect to the KAUST VPN at vpn.kaust.edu.sa. To avoid any inconvenience, we recommend updating before you travel and testing your connection so you are ready to access KAUST resources wherever you are.

If you are working from home, VPN is now required to reach internal KAUST resources. Everyday browsing and access to public KAUST resources remain unchanged.
