IT Travel Tips

KAUST Community,

As you prepare for upcoming travel, KAUST IT would like to share a few important reminders to help you stay connected, avoid unnecessary costs, and keep your information secure:

Keep Your Device Updated – Restart When Prompted

KAUST IT updates your device regularly to ensure security, performance, and compatibility. However, for updates to take full effect, you need to restart your device when prompted.

Ensure Off-Network Login Access

Before you travel, confirm that you can log in to your KAUST device and essential services while disconnected from the KAUST network. This helps avoid access issues while abroad.

Avoid Mobile Roaming Charges

Before you leave, ensure your device settings are adjusted to prevent costly international data usage.

Test Your VPN Connection

Make sure your VPN is set up and working properly so you can securely access KAUST systems from anywhere.

DUO 2FA is Required

DUO two-factor authentication is necessary to access many KAUST resources off-campus. Make sure it's active and functioning.

Install the KAUST Softphone App

Stay in touch with your team using your KAUST extension from anywhere. Download and configure the KAUST Softphone before your trip.

Review Security Best Practices

Refresh your knowledge on how to stay cyber-safe while traveling.

Use OneDrive and SharePoint for Easy Access

Access your files and collaborate with ease from any location using OneDrive and SharePoint.

KAUST Mobile Apps

Download the KAUST SAP mobile apps for HR Connect, Expense and Travel (Concur), and other KAUST Portal Self-services (Business Apps).
